Here and Now is a social enterprise based in Blacon with the aim of bringing socially isolated people together in a friendly and relaxed environment. Here and Now was formed in July 2015 with the help of Blacon Business Enterprise and CWaC and works to enhance the lives of the older members of the Blacon and Chester Community.

Here and Now provides activities such as crafts, card making, flower arranging, cake making, letterpress printing, table top games including dominoes, cards, and table top skittles as well as providing education sessions on topics such as new technology and health. In addition to this we also welcome regular guest speakers from various organisations who provide advice and information on various community and health matters.

At Here and Now our goals are to:

• Promote community inclusion

• Reduce loneliness and isolation

• Build the confidence of all through the ethos of activity learning and companionship

• Provide a fun and inclusive environment for everyone attending out sessions

Here and Now is made up of four directors and two part time staff, as well as working with the University of Chester to employ interns through their Careers and Employability Centre. However, the most important people who work with us are our team of dedicated volunteers. We rely heavily on the help of volunteers from the community and we currently have over twenty volunteering staff who work alongside us to help improve the lives of socially isolated people in the community.
